"What's a Kitsuné doing here?"
She heard a voice spit the word like a curse behind her, and turned to find, much to her surprise, Justin standing there with a unusually serious face. He was scowling at them with distrust and angry agitation burning in his eyes. And...did he say kitsuné? That was the Japanese-spirit-monster-fox-thing that she wrote a history report on, right? Why was he calling these weirdly dressed people that?
"Something like you would at least know when they're on Felidae territory, right?" He snarled, taking a step forward. Kit thought she saw sparks fly from his shoe for a moment.
"Well, what would would you think if I said I came here caught in the thrill of the hunt?" The girl said coldly, narrowing her eyes.
"Why!" He replied with a laugh, "Then I would say that you really are just a foolish fox that chased the hens in the house!"
An inhuman snarl rose in her throat.
"Are you asking for a fight, house cat?"
Her brother looked like he wanted to say something as Justin clenched his fists and said "You are treading very close to a certain line, there, you sly fox."
"But I haven't crossed it, now have I? Are you saying we should be doing something about it?"
"I'm saying you should get OUT!" He roared as orange fire engulfed his entire body, and when it died down a bit, it revealed that, where a young schoolboy once stood, there was a huge tiger-like beast, wreathed in flame, with yellow-orange eyes burning like the sun, and a beautiful striped pelt, running smooth over rippling muscles.
"Oh, is that how you want to play it now?" Ebony spoke with a barely contained anger. "Very well then!"
She leapt into the air as her form began to glow and frosted winds swirled around her. When she landed, she had taken the form of an equally huge, two-tailed fox with snow-white fur tipped in black.
"Hmph, you're just a two-tails and three-tails siblings, nothing to a Hunter like me!"
A growling voice that somehow formed words and sounded vaguely like Justin's drilled into her ears. She realized that the one speaking must've been the van-sized fiery jungle cat that was still standing just a few feet away.
"Is that so?" A different, silkier voice resonated in her head, that must've been the the almost tractor trailer sized fox. "Let's see if you're still so cocky in Hell!"
Without a moment's hesitation, they threw themselves at each other, grappling and snarling in tight ball of fur, claws, teeth, ice, and fire. Pulling away, the fox let out a yip, and chains of countless paper dolls appeared from behind her. Becoming enveloped in light, they streaked toward their target, Justin, the flaming jungle cat, gouging craters in the ground as he gracefully dodged them one after another before burning up three that almost hit their mark. In turn, he unleashed a rain of fire upon her, that was blown away by a blast of arctic wind.
They continued to trade blows of fire and ice, Justin pounced on her, and more paper dolls exploded in white-green light as she danced away. He caught the thick white fur of her flank in his claws, trying to wrestle her to the ground as she bit at his ears, knocking him away with a blast of wind to his face.
They once again found themselves at opposite sides of the clearing. Muscles tensed, eyes narrowed, claws dug into the earth, breaths became in pants and hairs stood on end as an air of power began to build around them both. One twitch, and both of the impossibly enormous beasts sprung towards one another with lethal grace, only to be blinded by a sudden flash of light as paper dolls tied them both to the ground.
"You stop that right there! The both of you!"
Looking down in confusion, they saw Ebonys' brother standing there, chains of light swirling around him, with fox's ears and five grey tails.
"You-you're a five-tails!?" Justin exclaimed with surprise.
"Nii-san! Why are you stopping us?!" The girl asked indignantly.
"Well, for starters," He explained, slowly relaxing the chains. "if your powers had actually collided you probably would have leveled part of the schoolyard along with some of the forest. We're not that far away, remember?"
"Well..." Ebony trailed of in embarrassment as she returned to her part-human form, same as her brother.
"And most importantly, you've seem to have completely forgotten that there are two humans standing right over there."
Something I wrote down a while ago, and am just now getting around to uploading~ While I don't intend to write this story as a novel, I felt the need to write this down for some reason~ Seeing as this is my first attempt at writing an action sequence, critique is welcome!

Species info-The Four Guardian Races

It's written from Kathyn(Kit)'s point of view, who is the main character that I have yet to draw...
Justin is one of the main gang of protagonists that I'm focusing on. He's a Nekomata that awoke his second tail at the age of five. He was cast out of the village and nearly killed, but he was saved by his older brother, who entrusted him with his Hunter training stone. He's managed to make a living in the human world since, even becoming popular in a public school, but continues to fear himself.
Still haven't come up with a name for Ebony's brother, but he doesn't stay in the story for long. He returns to his village badly injured in their first fight against a Soul Stealer.

BTW, for all you non otaku folk out there, Nii-san means brother. And Ebony isn't a weeaboo, that's just they way she was raised.
