Literature Text

O sun, why do you set?
Where does your shining figure go,
Once swallowed up by the darkness?
Thy brilliant disk of light,
The burning flame that engulfs thee,
How can such radiance be so easily extinguished,
How can such life-giving warmth vanish so regularly,
And then, reappear, without moment's notice,
Almost laughingly,
As if to save us from some despair,
As if to continue some addiction?
Such a sublime, luminous glow,
Such vivid beauty,
As if a light was set upon the finest of burnished, golden orbs.
Truly, we cannot live without thee,
O divine sun.
Just something I came up with while waiting for the sun to go down for 4th of July fireworks.
